Considered to be one of Raleigh's architectural jewels, the Border Building represents one of two remaining buildings on the former campus of the Methodist Home for Children, as well as a piece of the local history, being purchased by the city of Raleigh, in 1982, after serving, for many years, as home to hundreds of children. Today, Border Building serves as a venue for weddings, meetings and receptions.

Joel Lane House was built for `The Father of Raleigh`, in the early 1770's, and it is perhaps, the most history-filled building in Raleigh. Tours of the house are given daily, every hour, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, from Wednesday through Friday, between March and mid-December. The admission fees are as follows: $5 for adults, $ for senior citizens and $3 for students. For children under the age of 6, the admission is free of charge.
